The visitors to the beach got an extra bonus as they got to see the release of a loggerhead turtle. As soon as her net carrier hit the sand, she headed straight toward the Atlantic waters. The turtle was rescued as a distressed hatchling from a nest on Pine Knoll Shores in 2003. It has been on exhibit in the Queen Anne's Revenge since the Aquarium opened in May 2006. It will be equipped with a satellite tracking device -- harmless to the turtle -- that will enable the tracking of its movements for about a year, Saturday, September 15, 2007.
